Huey Morgan Secures New Role at Virgin Radio Following BBC Departure

Huey Morgan, the former frontman of Fun Lovin’ Criminals, has joined Virgin Radio UK just weeks after concluding a 17-year tenure at BBC Radio 6 Music. Morgan is scheduled to debut his new weekend program, “The Huey Show,” on Saturday, January 10, broadcasting live every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.

The move follows Morgan’s final broadcast for the BBC on December 27. At Virgin Radio, he joins a high-profile roster of presenters including Chris Evans, Alex James of Blur, and Ana Matronic of the Scissor Sisters. Morgan expressed enthusiasm regarding the transition, stating he intends to deliver “the best music to the listeners” during this pivotal era for the station.

The New York-born musician initially attained international recognition with the Fun Lovin’ Criminals, a group that achieved significant commercial success in the UK with three top 10 albums and hits such as “Scooby Snacks”. Though he departed the band in late 2021, his relationship with the remaining members has remained contentious; in 2023, he publicly disparaged the current lineup as a “tribute act”.

Morgan’s career has occasionally been marked by friction, notably a 2012 incident where he publicly criticized fellow DJ Lauren Laverne, for which he later apologized. Recently, he expanded his portfolio by publishing his autobiography, The Fun Lovin’ Criminal, which received critical acclaim for its candid exploration of his mental health struggles and his experiences in 1990s New York.
